At last Odysseus has arrived back home, yet unable to be with his wife Penelope whom he has been unable to see throughout his entire journey. When he arrives Penelope has finally given in to her suitors and has devised a near impossible contest. Each suitor must string Odysseus' bow and shoot arrows through twelve consecutive axe-helves. None of the "worthy" contestants are able to succeed, most not even able to string the bow. Meanwhile Odysseus, who has appeared as a beggar, meets up with Eumaeus, his loyal cowherd, and plots to seek revenge against those who have overrun his house while he was away. Hopefully everything will fall into place, and he well win back his dear loyal wife.
